As a result of our many years in the business, CEAMSA has developed a detailed knowledge of seaweed procurement. Our wealth of experience and our own harvesting organization ensures that we consistently source suitable raw material of the highest quality for the production of our Carrageenans.

Carrageenan is extracted from certain species of red seaweeds, more specifically the class Rhodophyceae. Locust Bean Gum is a Galactomannan, extracted from the seed of Locust Beans.

The most important seaweed types used in our production are:

Chondrus Crispus
(Kappa/Lambda Carrageenan)
Eucheuma Cottonii
(Kappa Carrageenan)
Eucheuma Spinosum
(Iota Carrageenan)
Gigartina, Various species
(Lambda/Kappa Carrageenan)
