CEAMSA invests in Turkish startup Farmhood
CEAMSA has made a strategic investment in Farmhood, a startup that upcycles plant-based agri-food by-products into protein ingredients using green extraction processes.
The investment is one of the outcomes of the latest edition of CEAMBOOST, CEAMSA’s corporate venturing and incubation program for startups developing natural, functional and sustainable ingredients.
Farmhood’s technology aims to turn underused agri-food by-products such as sesame (Turkey alone generates more than 30,000 tons of it every year) into a versatile, high-value ingredient with over 45% protein content, a clean label and valuable technological properties, including emulsifying capacity.
What makes Farmhood especially interesting is that it goes beyond extracting plant protein: its process also preserves and adds value to other compounds present in the by-products, paving the way for ingredients with a richer nutritional and functional profile. On top of that, it uses 40% less water and 75% less energy than conventional protein extraction methods.
Since Farmhood was selected in late 2025, the two companies have also been working together on an incubation roadmap to advance the technical and commercial validation of its first ingredient as a potential food processing aid.
“The global plant protein market is growing at a compound annual rate of 7.2% through 2028, and the functional food market is expected to reach $267.92 billion by 2027. These trends underline the importance of offering sustainable, highly nutritious options that reflect what consumers care about most.”Selin Arslan, founder of Farmhood
“This investment shows how the circular economy and startup innovation are helping us make better use of natural raw materials while opening up new industrial opportunities.”Iñigo Alzueta, CEO of CEAMSA
Following CEAMSA’s recent agreement with Spanish company Poseidona, the deal reaffirms CEAMSA’s commitment to bringing established companies and deeptech startups together to develop more sustainable, circular ingredients that meet new formulation needs.
